Winchester Saddle Ring Carbine Ladder & Express Rear Sights for SRC's, Trappers, & Short Rifles

These are various Winchester Carbine Rear and Front Sights we've found in our travels over the years. They will also work on Trappers and Short Rifles in some cases. The first few are good ones while the rest are what I'd call imperfect to project grade stuff which will be reflected in the prices. There are lots of original carbines out there with incorrect or missing sights so we thought some of you out there may have a use for these.

SOLD 1923 Winchester Carbine Ladder Sight with 200 to 900 yard graduations. "1873" stamped at top of ladder. Well used but solid, complete, and good working order with all markings visible. Correct for Winchester Model 1866 and 1873 carbines made from circa 1883 to 1892 and some very early 1892 carbines as well. By 1893, the "1873" marking had been omitted. $225

SOLD 1924 Winchester Carbine Ladder Sight with 0, 5, 10, 15, 20 graduations. This sight is typically found on Model 1873 and 1892 Carbines made after approximately circa 1905-1910 through the end of production. It may also be correct for 1894 carbines in black powder cartridges like the 32-40 and 38-55. It is identical to the sights often found on smokeless powder Model 1894 carbines with the exception of the slide which has a "V" notch instead of the small half-circle. This one is in Fine Condition with most of the original blue on the base and slide with ladder worn to a combination of gray mixed with fading blue. Nice markings. $175

SOLD 1925 Winchester Carbine Ladder Sight with 0, 5, 10, 15, 20 graduations. This sight is identical to item 1924 above with the exception that it has the small half moon aperture and is typically found on Model 1894 carbines in smokeless powder calibers like the 30-30 a.k.a. .30 WCF, 25-35, and .32 WS. Very Good Condition overall with exception that the top of stationary rear part of the sight has been planed down slightly. Complete and nice working order. $135

SOLD 1926 Winchester Carbine Ladder Sight with 0, 5, 10 , 15, 20 graduations. This one is missing the slide, slide stop screw, and set screw on the base. The base looks to be in Excellent shape but the ladder is slightly bent with some dings and a couple of indentions about midway down the ladder. Aperture on the stationary part of the rear sight has been just slightly altered from a V to a square notch. With a couple of screws, a slide, and a little careful straightening, this could be made back into a good working sight again. Project sight. $75

SOLD 1927 This sight came off a very worn project Model 1873 Carbine but maybe even a short rifle we found many years ago. The gun itself was badly worn and to make matters worse, it had been heavily buffed and nickel plated. At any rate, this sight had been over-polished and plated like the rest of the gun. No markings remain, the slide is gone and so is the slide stop. We were able to remove the plating and get it down to bare metal although there are some traces of a very thin layer of copper that formed the intermediary bond between the nickel and the steel. Its about 1-2 atoms thick and comes right off with mild abrasive. The ladder is quite thin from buffing and there are light file marks. This is not something that's going to be worth restoring but if you have a cheap carbine or a semi-relic that just needs an original rear sight to fill that empty slot and you don't want to spend $200, this just might fit the bill. $50

SOLD 1928 Winchester 2 Leaf Express Sight. You typically found these on Model 1894 saddle ring carbines and sporting rifles in .30 WCF from about the 1900 to 1910 era. You will also find them on the Model 1886 Rifles in 50-110 Express as well as other special order guns. In the Winchester catalog, I believe this was listed as the Model 34 Winchester Express Rear Sight. These featured a 50, 100, and 200 yard graduations and the front face of the apertures were usually platinum lined as this one has. Like most, the 50 yard rear section is fine and so is the 200 yard leaf but the 100 yard leaf has broken off which is very common. The rest of the sight is beautiful with about 80% toning original blue and the platinum lines on the 50 and 100 yard sections all there. $110

SOLD 1929 Winchester 2 Leaf Express Sight. Exactly the same as above with slightly better original blue...a bit dirty. 50 Yard and 200 yard graduations are fine...100 yard leaf is broken off. Just about normal for one of these. $120

SOLD 1930 Winchester Ladder Rear Sight. The ladder is broken off of this one with the stationary aperture of the original ladder filed down and very base of the ladder made into a separate aperture. No set screw. Base of this sight is very nice with 75-80% original blue that could use a cleaning. Would benefit from a new or reproduction ladder and/or would make a good filler on an 1866 4th Model, 1873 3rd Model, 1892, or 1894 saddle ring carbine, trapper, or short rifle. $65

SOLD 1931 Winchester 2 Leaf Express Sight. Well worn with 100 and 200 yardage leaves broken and missing. Base is good...mostly brown with maybe slight traces of blue. Very common for these to have broken leaves. Would work well on a Mexican Revolution era Model 1894 30-30 Saddle Ring Carbine or Short Rifle. $40

SOLD 1932 Winchester Ladder Rear Sight. The ladder is broken off of this one with the stationary aperture the only part remaining. It's a little loose but will probably sit firm once resting on a barrel under some tension. It does have the set screw. Base of this sight is very nice with 30% original blue with possibly an old repair done to the right rear of the base that holds the pin for the ladder. Almost unnoticeable and very well done by someone with a lot of talent. Would benefit from a new or reproduction ladder and/or would make a good filler on an 1866 4th Model, 1873 3rd Model, 1892, or 1894 saddle ring carbine, trapper, or short rifle. $50

SOLD 1933 Winchester Ladder Rear Sight...just the base. No ladder, no pin, no set screw. Nice base with 85% original blue. Would benefit from a new ladder. Worth restoring. Will work on a Winchester Model 1866 4th Model, 1873 3rd Model, 1892, or 1894 saddle ring carbine, trapper, or short rifle. $50

SOLD 1934 Winchester Ladder Rear Sight. No ladder. No set screw. Pin is present. The base is in fair condition as modified . Looks like it was modified a long time ago with two extra holes drilled into the base to hold some type of sight. Base has traces of brazing but I can't tell if it's to the base or remnants of what was sitting on top of it. Could possibly be fixed or used as a cheap filler for a junker. $20

SOLD 1935 Marbles Rear Combination Replacement Sight for a Winchester or Marlin Saddle Ring Carbine. This is an aftermarket sight commonly found on the Winchester Model 94 Carbines as well as sometimes found on the Marlin 1893 Carbines. Basically, it's a bit of a modern improvement...and works well in conjunction with a rear tang sight. Sight is in excellent condition but is missing the little sliding aperture which are around. We're pairing this with either a Lyman or Marble Replacement front sight blade. $35

SOLD 1936 Original Winchester Steel "Shark Blade" Front Sight for the Model 1892 or 1894 Saddle Ring Carbine. You see these sights from around the early teens of the 20th century to about 1930. Guys must have hated these because you hardly ever find these left on almost any original Winchester carbine unless it sat in some police station's rack for fifty years. This one is a bit dirty and could use a good cleaning. Looks pretty good...original owner may have shaved a hair off the top but not much if any. Very hard to find these on the loose. $40

SOLD 1937 Original Winchester "Shark Blade" Front Sight for the Model 1892 or 1894 Saddle Ring Carbine. Same as above only nicer. Perfect profiles (very tall) and most original blue remaining. Very hard to find. $50
