This is an original Winchester blade front sight...some collectors call these Rocky Mountain sights. In addition the blade, the base that fits into the dovetail portion of the rifle barrel is also unique. Unlike the standard base, the upper portion tapers and pinches the blade giving it a sleeker appearance. These were usually special order items although from rifles we've lettered with the museum, many appear to have been placed rifles with non-standard features as a sort of added bonus. This one is in good condition with basically a brown patina, no finish, with some nicks, dings, and scratches. The back blade of the sight still has its original platinum lined insert. These are tough to find these days and would look good on a nice brown Winchester lever action rifle or a single shot Hi-wall rifle.
