This is a standard 3rd Model 1873 Winchester rifle in Caliber 32 WCF with 24" octagon barrel, full magazine, and crescent rifle buttplate. The serial number is in the 264,000 range and was manufactured in the year 1887. Overall condition is NRA Antique Fine. The frame has 50% original blue overall with some light scratches. Loading port has 30% fire blue while the hammer shows 50% faded case colors. The lever colors have mostly washed out to a nickelly silver with hints of color in protected areas. The barrel and magazine tube have 75% thinning original blue overall with the balance turned to a nice smooth grey/brown patina. Original sights include the standard front sight with German silver blade and the standard semi-buckhorn rear sight that has never been altered or filed down. Even the elevator is original. The markings on this gun are fantastic which include the Winchester barrel address w/Henry and King's patent dates. Top of the barrel in front of the frame is marked "32 WCF". Top tang is marked "MODEL 1873" with a very sharp "32 CAL" in script located on the bronze elevator. The hammer has its correct 1880's vintage rectangular knurling. Nice screws throughout. The wood is in Very Good+ to Fine condition with perfect wood to metal fit...with the edges of the wood still standing slightly proud over the metal just like it did when it left the factory. Nice grain with only mostly minor dings and handling marks. Very good action that still snaps when closed. Bore is in Good+ to VG condition with good rifling and no rings or bulges. A nice all original example with lots of original blue that is all original down to the smallest screw. Well above average for an 1880's vintage Model 73.
