This is a Whitney Navy Model Percussion Revolver in .36, 7-1/2" octagonal barrel, and walnut grips. All the numbers are matching inside and out which include the barrel, cyl pin, loading lever, trigger guard, frame, cylinder, and grips. The left side of the frame has a Civil War-era US Naval Inspector's stamp. The serial number is in the low 20,000 range which corresponds in close proximity to other Whitneys issued to the US Navy during the Civil War listed in Springfield Research. There is no anchor symbol on the barrel as not all Whitneys received this marking. Overall Condition grades to NRA Antique Very Good with the metal a smooth silver gray with good markings. The grips are very good as well. Excellent mechanics. Bore has decent rifling with a slight ring about midway. A nice clean looking Whitney that will display very well.
