Nice tintype photograph of a man proudly holding his Winchester Model 1866 repeating rifle with octagon barrel. The original 19th century owner has turned the rifle so that we can see the entire profile of the right side. Since the image on these tintypes is reversed, the loading port appears to be on the left side...which of course is not the case. Image has a couple of very slight creases in the tin but remains in great shape with no deterioration or corrosion. Measures 3-1/4" x 2". One of the BEST early photographic images of an Winchester Yellowboy we've seen in years!
