This is a rather nice bag flask suitable for a cased Colt Revolver. It was manufactured by Sykes in England. Body of the flask is stamped "SYKES" on one side with "SYKES PATENT" on the lid. Spout is graduated 3/8, 1/2, and 5/8ths drams of powder. Base has a small lanyard ring. Robin Rapley's book describes this as an "early Colt Pocket/Navy flask"...making this ideal for a cased London Model 1849 Pocket or 1851 London Navy Revolver. There is a similar example of a Sykes flask to this one on pg. 105 in his book COLT ACCOUTREMENTS 1834-1911.
Overall condition is NRA Antique Excellent with 85% bright fire blue on the spout spring. Excellent markings. Body of flask is in fantastic shape with no dents or split seams. Adjustable spout is in perfect working order and as tight as new. Would make an excellent addition to a cased London Pocket or Navy Revolver.
