Here is a well-above average example of Winchester 1873 Saddle Ring Carbine in 44 WCF.  This one is a standard carbine with 20" barrel, full magazine, carbine buttplate with trapdoor, carbine sights, and saddle ring.  Since SRC's were utility guns designed to be carried on horseback, they are generally well-used having lived a hard life, much of it outdoors.  The carbine was popular with 19th century cowboys, Indians, Lawmen, and Outlaws alike as they offered good firepower in a smaller and lighter version of the Sporting Rifle.   We've really been lucky to find some good SRC's lately and this one has it all starting with a Pre-1898 antique serial number (made in 1894), completely untouched, 100% original down to the smallest screw, nice wood, lots of original finish, and a great ring shadow on the side of the receiver.

Overall condition is NRA Antique Fine Plus Condition with 60% thinning blue that stretches across nearly the entire receiver that is now speckled with a light patina with some scratching on the left sideplate. The loading port still has 35% bright vivid fire blue mostly along the edges around the cartridge scoop.  Hammer has 35% faded case colors with the lever showing colors in protected areas.  Barrel and magazine tube have 50% original blue with the balance of the blue turning to a plum patina.  Good screws overall, excellent markings, and nice edges.  Wood is in Very Good Plus condition with much of the original oil finish intact giving the stocks a warm glow through the patina.  The wood is completely untouched with perfect wood to metal fit with the wood still standing slightly proud over the metal....its very possible the wood hasn't been off this gun. There are a few dings and light handling marks but overall, the wood is quite nice which is exceptional for a carbine.  No chips, cracks, or repairs of any kind.  Nice mechanics with a Fine bore!  Just a nice example of 73 SRC which hasn't been abused...these have gotten very tough to find in this condition range.
