Spencer Model 1860 Saddle Ring Carbine

A very affordable Model 1860 Spencer carbine as used by Union Cavalry units during the Civil War and later the Indian Wars. This was one of the most effective breech-loading weapons of the Civil War with only the New Haven Arms Henry Rifle considered a comporable rival. As you can tell from the photos, someone reblued but the markings are still good and legible and would make an excellent project for a Civil War collector whose on a budget.  Here are the specifics.  Serial number is in the 40,000 range.  22" round barrel with 6 groove rifling.  Bore is Very Good with strong lands and grooves and a few minor pits.  Complete with original sights, saddle ring, correct rear swivel, and original tubular magazine with correct flat base.  The top of the frame reads "SPENCER REPEATING RIFLE CO. BOSTON MASS. PAT'D MARCH 6 1860."  Original wood has been cleaned and there are no visible cartouches.
