This is nice untouched attic find that saw little usage before being packed away many years ago. It's an early S&W Model 1-1/2 Single Action Topbreak Revolver in .32 caliber. Nickel finish with checkered hard rubber grips, five shot cylinder, and 3" barrel. Serial number is in the 68,000 range with all matching numbers. The Model 1-1/2 single action was part of a second wave of new topbreak designs that replaced the early line-up of rimfire tip-up revolvers but still retained the early style spur trigger. Built from 1878-1892, this model showed surprising longevity for a single action pocket model considering that by 1880, S&W had already started to produce double actions.
Overall Condition grades to NRA Antique Excellent with 95% original nickel plating remaining which has developed a nice dull patina over the years. This can be brightened up with a few minutes of rubbing with a soft cloth if desired. Hammer shows 90% bright original case colors. Trigger shows 60% straw colors. 90% original blue on barrel latch. Checkered hard rubber grips are Fine+ to Excellent with perfect fit to the straps and no chips, cracks, or repairs. Screws and pins are excellent throughout. Barrel has sharp address and patent dates across the top rib. Mechanics are Excellent with nice timing and lockup with automatic ejector in perfect order. The bore is Near Mint; bright and shiny with no pitting. Nice example of an early S&W SA Pocket.
