"MINTY" Smith and Wesson 1st Model 3rd Issue Revolver

This is a nearly perfect example of a blued S&W Model One, 3rd Issue Pocket Revolver. Caliber .22 Short with fluted seven-shot cylinder, 3-3/16" round barrel, spur trigger, and birdshead grips. The 3rd Issue was last version of the Model One by S&W which was the world's first cartridge gun which was introduced in 1857. The 3rd Issue was made from 1868 to 1881. This one is in the 78,000 range which would date its production to approximately the mid-1870's. Research letters are available from Roy Jinks, the Smith and Wesson factory historian which can usually provide a precise date of shipment and to whom. Overall Condition grades to NRA Antique Excellent. With the exception of a small patch of flaking on the left side-plate, this one is about 97-98% overall with very strong original blue. Even the screws and pins retain their original nitre blue. Strong case colors remain on the hammer and trigger. 99% Original piano varnish remains on the original rosewood grips. Action is perfect. Bore is MINT. We've had one in the original factory box that wasn't as nice as this one!
