Early example of a S&W Double Action Revolver in Caliber .44 Russian. Serial Number is in the 2600 range...1880's production. 6.5" Barrel. Checkered Hard Rubber Grips. Smith and Wesson Barrel Address is clear with patent dates from 1865 thru 1880. The gun retains about 95% of a period re-nickel that was applied almost as good as the factory as the gun shows no evidence of buffing, worn, or rounded edges. The only giveaway is that they over-did it a bit by applying nickel to the hammer and trigger which should be case color hardened as well as the barrel latch and trigger guard which would have originally been blued. Otherwise, I might have missed this...it's that good! Hard rubber grips are excellent with no chips, cracks, or repairs with sharp checkering. Bore is still bright with strong lands and grooves...Fine+ to Excellent condition.
