S&W 320 Revolving Rifle, Original Hammer, Minty NOS

Several years ago, we found this at a show. The people were selling off what had once been the Smith and Wesson factory's inventory of replacement parts. It was incredible. They had bins on top of bins of New Old Stock parts...some going all the way back to the S&W No. 1, 2nd Issue Revolvers from the 1860's. However, the bulk of it was early to mid 20th century. I remember them having almost enough to build a Model Ladysmith from scratch. There was so much of it that these guys were having trouble identifying it all and a gunsmith friend of mine was helping them out. At any rate, I asked him if there was anything I should buy and this was suggested. I bought a couple of NOS barrels for S&W Baby Russians which we sold off to collectors. It was this original hammer for a 320 Revolving Rifle. It looks just like a hammer for the New Model Number Three Revolver...but internally, there is a cut on the left side for the "fly" which is a component of a single set trigger. This is only the hammer; it has no pins, the fly, or springs. My gunsmith told me this would also probably work just fine on the New Model Number Three Revolvers in .44 Russian as well as the Target Models in 32-44 and 38-44. Aside from being in storage for over 100+ years and coming into contact with other parts, it was almost brand new, having never been installed on a gun. The original case colors are a good strong 98% with a few specks of light rust from storage. Had this about five years now and the reality is that I'll probably never be able to afford an original 320 revolving rifle, nor will I need an extra hammer. Knock on wood! Smith and Wesson only produced 977 of these Model 320 Revolving Rifles. Here is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to pick up some spare parts for one.
