This is a New Model Navy Conversion revolver in .38 Rimfire.  It has a barrel length of 7 1/2" inches, 6 shot cylinder, wood grips, blued finish, and silver plated brass trigger guard.  Barrel is marked "PATENTED SEPT. 14 1858" over "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION NEW YORK U.S.A." over "NEW MODEL".  Serial number is in the 42,000 range.  Overall condition is NRA Antique Fine Plus with 40% original thinning barrel blue, 80% on cylinder and loading lever, and approximately 20% remaining on the frame.   Triggerguard retains 25% tarnished silver plating.  Grips are in VG+ condition with tight and even wood to metal fit and no military cartouches.  Fine bore with strong rifling and very good mechanics.   A nice example of a Remington Conversion Revolver.
