This is a near perfect example of a Remington Number 4 Revolver in caliber .38 Rimfire. Remington produced 23,000 units of this model from 1877-1888 with this particular example falling into the 18,000 serial range. Features are a 2.5" short ejectorless barrel with five shot cylinder and checkered hard rubber grips. Condition-wise, it's in NRA Antique Excellent Plus Condition...perhaps fired five to ten times back when it was new and put away in a drawer. The nickel plating is 99+% and there is still quite a bit of original blue remaining on the screws. The checkered hard rubber grips are flawless. Barrel address clearly reads "E. REMINGTON & SON ILION N.Y." Perfect Mechanics with an Excellent bore. This one is a real beauty and looks better than the majority of examples pictured in my Remington books.
