Remington Model 1875 Single Action Revolver --Blued--

This is an early 1875 Model Remington revolver in caliber 44-40 with the lanyard ring and early pinched style front sight.   It has the desirable blued finish...as most of these were nickel plated.   Looks just like the early blued model 1875 that Jesse James carried during his outlaw days!   Serial number under the grips is in the low 200 range.   Bear in mind...many 1875 Remingtons have low numbers because they were serialized in batches.   Barrel address reads "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION. N.Y. U.S.A."

Overall, NRA Antique Very Good.   The metal has worn mostly to gray with a light brown patina forming...quite attractive.   Strong traces of original blue in the corners and protected areas...i.e. cylinder flutes, around front sight, rear of web, corners of trigger guard, and along edges of the barrel where it meets the web and frame.   There is some minor corrosion in the form of light pitting along the bottom edges of the web that houses the ejector rod/located underneath the barrel.   Aside from that, this is a very pleasing gun to look at.   Original walnut grips are in Very Good condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs.   The original Remington caliber marking is still visible on the lower portion of the left grip which reads "44 W" which stands for 44 Winchester.  Action works nicely...full and half cock positions are fine...cylinder indexes properly and bolt still locks up the cylinder.   Fine+ bore with very strong lands and grooves.   All in all, a good solid example of a blued Remington Model 1875 that's priced at about half of what you'd pay for a comparable civilian Model 1873 Colt SAA mfd during the 1870's.
