This is an original CDV Photograph that was taken in Ballard, Washington around the turn of the 20th century. The subject is a young man holding a blued Colt Model 1878 Double Action revolver with 7 1/2" barrel and a Model 1894 Winchester rifle. It appears to be a standard rifle with 26" octagonal barrel, full magazine, and crescent rifle buttplate. He's also wearing a wide leather cartridge belt with a flap holster for his Colt. If you look just below his left hand, you can see a couple of the belt loops filled with cartridges. There is also a bowie knife tucked down underneath his belt. Actual photo measures 4" x 5.5" & 4.5" x 6.5" with the matte. Photographer or studio is marked "Davis, Ballard WA". Good+ condition overall with some some light handling marks and minor stains...no fading or tears. We find very few period photos following the Civil War with Colt Revolvers out of the holster and in hand being brandished in full view. A nice Western image.
