This is a standard Model 1873 Sporting rifle in 32 WCF with 24" round barrel, full magazine, and crescent buttplate.  3rd Model Configuration with serial number in the 334,000 range. Made in 1890. This rifle is 100% original down to the smallest screw and is in untouched attic condition.  Overall, metal has turned to a brown patina with 25% original barrel blue with traces of finish around the sideplates and protected areas of the receiver.  There are some dings located on the front edge of the left sideplate, top of frame and dustcover.  Good markings with sharp barrel address and tang markings.  "32 CAL" marking on the bronze loading block is still legible.  Original sights include semi-buckhorn rear sight and standard front sight with German silver blade.  Screws are in overall good condition.  The wood is in good condition, untouched with typical dings and some scratches and still retains some of its original varnish.  Nice tight wood to metal fit with contact points having wood slightly proud or even to the metal....the one exception to this is the very tip of the bottom of stock toe which where the wood is slightly shy of the buttplate due to natural shrinkage....this is present on nearly all antique Winchesters.  Buttplate is the solid steel type without trapdoor....correct on all .22 cal and .32 caliber 1873's.  Action works good.  Bore is in fair condition.with rifling intact with some scattered pits....no rings or bulges...which should improve slightly better with a good cleaning.  Given the value of this rifle's individual components such as the sights, wood, and dust cover, it seems to becoming increasingly difficult to find all original and complete Winchester 73 rifles in this price range.  This is a good untouched example that is 100% original.
