This is a near Mint example of the 1863 Model Maynard Carbine manufactured by the Massachussetts Arms Company of Chicopee Falls. Caliber .50 rimfire. The stock has two nice Union inspector cartouches. Serial number is in the 21,000 range. Overall, the frame retains 97% strong case colors with Mass. Arms Co. markings on the right side and the Maynard Patent dates on the left side. Even the screws on the frame retain 95% of their original and fragile fire blue. The barrel has 98% original blue. Bore is mint...action is still just like new. Stock is nearly perfect...with just a few tiny nicks....as nice as you will see for 140 year old gun. Buttplate has 60% bright blue remaining with the balance simply flaked. An extraordinary example of Civil War Era Maynard Carbine in as-issued condition.
