This is a very rare illustrated instruction sheet for the Mauser Model 1896 Broomhandle Pistol. I've never seen one before and chances are they're pretty scarce here in the U.S. It was printed in Stuttgart, Germany in English for Westley Richards who was one of Mauser's sales agents for Great Britain, India, and the Cape Colony (South Africa). The model featured in the instructions appears to be very early with unusual checkered grips...circa 1897-1898. Sheet was framed many years ago under glass, helping it survive in relatively good condition with no rips or pieces missing. It's interesting to note that Westley Richards is where Winston Churchill purchased his Broomhandle Pistol while going to or arriving in South Africa where he worked as a war correspondent during the Boer War.
