We are pleased to offer yet another scarce Marlin Lever Action Deluxe rifle. This is the Model 1889 series which was produced from 1889-1899. In case it looks familiar, the 89 is basically the father to the famous Model 1894 which is still produced today. Deluxe 1889's are not very common in comparison to other Deluxe Marlins. This one has Pre-1898 Antique serial number in the 39,000 range. Caliber .32-20 with 24" octagon barrel, full magazine, pistol grip, checkered, and crescent rifle buttplate.
Overall this one grades well into the NRA Antique Fine condition category with 40% thinning original blue on the barrel and magazine tube and 15% receiver blue. Balance of metal is a very nice smooth grey turning to a light patina with no pitting or cleaning...this rifle was used but appears well-looked after. 85% fire blue on the loading port. Hammer shows some light original case colors with traces remaining on the lever. Nice crisp markings throughout with "MARLIN SAFETY" on the top of the receiver and correct 2 line barrel address with 1887 and 1889 patent dates. The wood is in excellent condition with only a few handling markings. 85% of the original varnish is intact with very good original checkering that is still sharp. Perfect wood to metal fit. Action is flawless and the bore is in good to vg condition with strong rifling. Original sights include the early style long Marlin-Ballard rear sight with original pronged elevator. Front sight is the standard Rocky Mountain Front with German silver blade.
