Colt's Patent Bullet Model for 1849 Pocket Revolver

This is a good solid example of a Colt Model 1849 Pocket Bullet Mold in .31 caliber. It would also be proper for a late model Root Revolver in .31 caliber. The Colt Model 1849 Pocket Percussion Revolver was Colt's best selling revolver during the 19th century with over 340,000 units sold from 1850 to 1873 when production ceased. This mold has the later style iron body and sprue cutter which came out in the late 1850's and were made until the end of production. Overall, it still shows about 40% original blued finish with numerous handling marks probably from the original owner tapping the side to break open the mold when casting lead bullets. It has a good "COLT'S PATENT" marked on the sprue cutter and "31 PKT" for .31 caliber Pocket Revolver on the right body of the mold. The cavities for the conical and round balls are excellent, still retaining most of their original blue. They look good enough to still cast and every cased set not only needs a mold but a few round and conical balls to go in that top right compartment...which you can make yourself with this. This would make an excellent companion for a Colt 1849 pocket from the Civil War era in the Good+ to Fine Condition range.
