This is a sharp little Colt New Line Revolver in .32 Center Fire. A nice untouched example that has never been in a collection before. Nickel finish with fire blued appointments. It also has less common checkered hard rubber grips instead of the more prolific rosewood panels most often associated with the New Line models. 2-1/4" barrel with 5-shot cylinder. Left side of the barrel has a perfect etched panel which reads "COLT NEW 32". Top of barrel has Colt's Hartford address while bottom is marked with Colt's 1874 patent date. Serial number is in the 16,000 range. Mfd in 1880.
Overall condition grades to NRA Antique Excellent with 97% original nickel finish on the barrel and frame with some minor bubbling around the cross-pin. Cylinder retains 85% original nickel with some flaking around the front and rear edges of the chambers. Cylinder pin, trigger, and screws still retain much of their original fire blue. Hammer has most of its original factory bright polish on the sides and the rear face shows nearly all its original fire blue. Hard rubber grips are perfect with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Checkering is sharp with "COLT" style logo at the top of each panel. Nice crisp mechanics. Good+ bore. All in all, a very strong example of the "New Line" which was also Colt's first .32 caliber cartridge revolver.
