This is a dual cavity bullet mold in .56 Caliber for the Colt Model 1855 Revolving musket, rifle, and sporting rifle variations. The revolving muskets in this caliber were used quite extensively by both sides during the Civil War. The sprue cutter is clearly marked "COLT'S PATENT" while the right arm of the tool is makred "56 R" for .56 Caliber rifle. Just below this marking "K" which appears to be a military inspector's marking. Overall, the tool is in Good+ condition with the outside mostly a smooth light grey patina. The walnut grips are Very good+ condition showing a few light handling marks and no chips or cracks. The brass caps have aged to a mellow patina. The mold cavities for the round and conical balls have show light pitting (see photos).
