This is a nice pure example of an early US Army Issue Colt Double Action Revolver. Standard 6" barrel in caliber .38 Colt. This is a just a nice pure example of the US Army Model 1894 that was never rebuilt or upgraded by Colt or the military. It's 100% original down to the smallest screw. The base of the grips is marked "US ARMY MODEL 1894". Antique serial number is in the 62,000 range which dates its manufacture to the year 1895. If you look closely above the cartouche on the left grip, you will see the date "1895" stamped in the wood. All matching numbers throughout including barrel, cylinder, frame, swing-out arm, and even both the grips. Grips have visible cartouches on both sides. US Inspector initials "RAC" ("Ronaldo A. Carr") are located on the left side of the frame and bottom of right grip. Barrel address has the early 1884 and 1888 patent dates.
Overall condition grades to NRA Antique Fine+ condition with 80% original blue overall. The screws still show much of their original fire blue as well as the trigger and rear face of the hammer. Sides of hammer still retain most of their bright factory polish with a few freckles. Very good grips show typical military handling wear but are solid with no cracks or repairs. Nice working action. Very good bore is bright and shiny with a few minor pits. Nice example of an original US Model 1894. As a bonus, it comes with its original "US" marked holster which has had the flap removed.
