This is a Colt Commercial version of the Double Action New Army and Navy Revolver. Standard 6" barrel in .38 Colt. Antique Pre-1898. SN# is in the 70,000 range. Made in 1896. Best of all, it has the rare "1892" marked hard rubber grips. Usually, the grips just say Colt with the rampant colt horse logo but a few were marked with 1892 below the horse. These grips are perfect, they fit perfect, and they're numbered to the gun. Its been a few years since we found a DA with these and this is by far the best example we've encountered.
NRA Antique Excellent Condition. The Colt DA has always been a tough variant for us to photograph...particularly with large percentages of original finish. The pictures simply do not do it justice. For example, the photos do not convey the depth of the blue or the fact that there is nearly full coverage of fire blue on the trigger and screws. That said, there95% bright original blue overall with some with some little specks of brown mixing through from age. Only significant wear on the gun are the grip straps...where the blue is thin and worn. Trigger, hammer face, screws, and pins still have most of their original vivid fire blue. Excellent Mechanics and Fine+ bore. Hard rubber Grips are perfect. A beautiful example of an antique Colt Double Action.
