Colt Model 1873 Single Action Army Revolver in Caliber .45 Colt  with 7 1/2 barrel and early style hard rubber Eagle grips.  A nice early one made in 1884 with black powder frame in the 111,000 serial range.  Overall condition grades to NRA Antique Very Good+ with the metal turned mostly worn to a light silvery grey patina with strong traces of original blue and case colors in protected areas. Original blue can be found in and around the recesses of the ejector housing, in protected area of the barrel junction, along the sides of triggerguard and upper backstrap, and towards the back of the cylinder flutes.  There are some original case colors evident at the front of the frame bellow the barrel and around the edges of the recoil shield.  Nice edges and markings with 3 line patent dates on left side of frame.  Barrel clearly address reads "COLT'S PT F.A. MFG CO HARTFORD CT. U.S.A."  Side of triggerguard is marked "45 CAL". Hard rubber Eagle grips are in very good condition with no chips or cracks...left grip looks lighter in color than left...possibly bleached from sunlight.  The grips fit the metal nicely along the metal straps...but have some slight gapping along the upper horizontal of the backstrap.  We're going to consider these to be a set of correct and original Eagle grips...just probably not original to this exact gun.  Action works perfectly.  Bore is a little frosty but good rifling and no signs of any significant corrosion or pitting.  This a sharp and attractive looking Colt SAA.
