This is another good example of the Colt 1849 Pocket revolver in .31 Caliber with 4" barrel, 5 shot cylinder, and an early style New York Barrel address.  Serial number is in the 129,000 range.  Made in 1856. 100% all matching numbers which includes barrel, frame, loading lever, wedge, arbor pin, cylinder, backstrap, and triggerguard.  Left side of frame marked "COLT'S PATENT".  2 Line barrel address reads "ADDRESS SAML COLT" <over> "NEW YORK CITY". 

NRA Antique Good+ condition with a smooth pleasing patina on the metal and no pitting.  Triggerguard has 35% original silver plating with the balance of the brass aged to a very attractive patina.  Backstrap also retains 30% original silver plating mainly along the bottomstrap and the upper junction of the frame. We've always found it interesting how often these well-used early 1850's era Colt percussion revolvers seem to survive with significant amount of their silver plating intact in contrast to later guns.  We've handled nearly unused examples of 49's, 51's, 60's, and 62's made throughout the 1860's and early 70's that often have no more than traces of original silver left on their straps.  The Cylinder shows some wear with 50% of the original rolled Stage Coach robbery scene still visible.  Very good grips show wear consistent with the gun with 70% original varnish remaining.  No cracks or repairs.  One tiny chip on left side at the bottom toe....an almost natural occurence on most Colt percussion revolvers.  Mechanics are in good working order.  Good+ bore with strong lands and grooves with the usual scattered pits found on most 1850's era black powder weapons.  Barrel to frame lock up is tight with no play.  A good honest and solid example of a mid-1850's era Colt Pocket Percussion revolver that needs nothing.
