This is a nice, clean, untouched Model 1873 rifle with a pleasing combination of condition and character.  It was made in 1890 and is a standard sporting rifle with  24" round barrel, full magazine, crescent rifle buttplate with trapdoor. This rifle is 100% original down to the smallest screw including the sights. The wood has an especially nice look to it with 60% original varnish with that reddish orange tint collectors prize on Winchesters while balance of the wood is somewhat darker from years of wear, oil, and dirt giving it a nice contrast. The metal is sharp with nice edges and very nice screws.  The receiver has a turned to a balance of mostly age darkened blue and light brown patina with lots of speckles of brighter original blue mixed throughout. There is a little bit of light case color on the hammer. The barrel and tube are mostly a smooth brown patina with blue in protected areas. All markings are sharp and crisp.  The action cycles nicely with no lever sag and the firing pin still indexing correctly.  The bore is fine with sharp rifling.  Just a really sharp 1873 that was used but well looked after and not kept locked up in the closet.
