This 1873 lever action rifle was made in the year 1889. Its a standard rifle with a 24" round barrel, full magazine and crescent rifle buttplate with sliding trapdoor. Overall, its in NRA VG Condition with 30% original blue on the receiver with the balance of the metal turned a light brown patina. Original blue is mostly behind at the back of the frame behind the sideplates and in the protected areas. Good traces of original case colors on the hammer and some original fire blue is visible on the loading port. Wood shows lots of grain and in very good condition with no chips or cracks. Generally good wood to metal fit overall. Screws are in decent condition...some nice, some ok, and some show pinch marks around the slots but all are 100% serviceable. Nice markings throughout with an excellent barrel address, tang markings, and a nice "44 CAL" on the bronze loading block. Action has good to vg mechanics with an excellent bore...bright and shiny with strong lands and grooves....quite exceptional for a Pre-1898 antique gun.
