A good example of an early Model 1849 Pocket revolver in .31 Caliber with 4" barrel. These were quite popular with soldiers during the Civil War who used these Pocket Colts a their back-up weapon. This one has the early style small trigger guard and New York barrel address. Serial number is in the 107,000 range. Made in 1855. 100% all matching numbers including wedge and arbor pin. Overall condition grades to NRA Antique Very Good Plus with 50% original silver plate on the brass trigger guard and 15% on the backstrap. Barrel is mostly turned to brown patina but still shows about 15% thinning original blue mixed/speckled across the flats. You can see just a hint of case colors at the pivot point of the loading lever. Frame shows some silvery traces where case colors have faded. Right lug area shows some dings and tap marks. Nice barrel address and Colt's Patent on side of frame. Cylinder scene is about as good as they get....I would call it a strong 95%. Original walnut grips have 85% original varnish with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Wood to metal fit is very tight. Good working action. Good bore with strong rifling with some scattered pits. A well-above average 1849 Pocket from the Mid-1850's.
